UCLA First Thursdays emphasizes sustainability, celebrates student artwork

NWWNC funds Village for Vets to support veterans experiencing homelessness

The North Westwood Neighborhood Council funded a nonprofit organization Wednesday to help veterans experiencing homelessness move into housing. The NWWNC voted to provide up to $5,000 to Village for Vets, a nonprofit organization that supports veterans in the Los Angeles area, to distribute 160 moving kits to veterans transitioning to permanent supportive housing, said Andrew Lewis, vice president of the NWWNC. Report finds systemic issues increase COVID-19 cases in incarcerated communities

A UCLA report highlighted large structural issues within jails as a central cause of unnecessary COVID-19-related deaths and infection of county jail inmates and staff. According to the March 8 report from the UCLA Law COVID Behind Bars Data Project, jails across the United States reported their highest numbers of COVID-19 infections between December 2021 and March 2022.
