Lecturers’ union celebrates new contract with UC after canceled strike

Pizza, music and smiles crowded Bruin Plaza on Wednesday afternoon, hours after the University of California announced its new contract with the lecturers’ union. The University Council-American Federation of Teachers and the UC came to a tentative agreement Wednesday morning on a new five-year contract, hours before the union was scheduled to begin striking across all campuses in demonstration of its demands. UCLA celebrates launch of Amazon-partnered center for AI research

UCLA collaborated with Amazon to launch a center for artificial intelligence research, education and outreach Oct. 29. The Science Hub for Humanity and Artificial Intelligence, based at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, aims to address social issues and create positive impacts using artificial intelligence. LA-area high school students compete in UCLA’s 1st ideathon for health technology
