UCLA organizations spotlight 4 books featuring Black protagonists

UCLA student organizations hosted a reading event Friday to promote youth literacy and increased representation during Black History Month. BlaQue fosters community, supports Black LGBTQ+ students

Black LGBTQ+ Bruins are finding community and connection at UCLA despite the challenges they face on campus and the shift to virtual learning. BlaQue, a student organization under the Queer Alliance at UCLA and the Afrikan Student Union, is a student organization centering the experiences of Black LGBTQ+ students and addressing the issues facing their communities. LA County announces end to indoor mask requirement for fully vaccinated individuals

This post was updated Feb. 24 at 5:32 p.m. Los Angeles County will lift its indoor mask mandate in places requiring vaccine verification beginning Friday.  Based on declining COVID-19 cases and test positivity rates, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced in a press release Wednesday that fully vaccinated individuals will no longer be required to wear masks indoors, provided businesses verify their vaccination status. Kristen Crowley nominated for next Los Angeles Fire Department fire chief

Kristin Crowley, a deputy chief, will be the first female fire chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Crowley will officially take her new role March 26 following more than 26 years working in emergency response, 22 of which were in the firefighting sector. Read more...
