The number of blood donations has dropped at UCLA, but the need for them hasn’t
The UCLA Blood and Platelet Center is facing a blood supply shortage amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The UCLA BPC provides blood to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and the Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center, said Dawn Ward, medical director of UCLA BPC. Read more...

UCLA Labor Center releases report detailing challenges facing student workers
The coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated the difficulties students with jobs face, a UCLA report found. The UCLA Labor Center and the Dolores Huerta Labor Institute released a report and supplemental brief June 23, which looked at the challenges faced by working students at public colleges and universities in Los Angeles County and how these students have been affected by COVID-19. Supreme Court ruling only first step for LGBTQ+ community according to UCLA faculty
A Supreme Court decision to protect employees from sexuality and gender-based discrimination is a step in the right direction, UCLA faculty said. The June 15 decision ruled that sexual orientation and gender identity would be protected under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of several categories, including sex and race.
