Research symposium showcases facets and goals of LGBTQ program
UCLA’s LGBTQ Studies Program celebrated the 20th anniversary of the LGBTQ studies minor Friday. The program held a research symposium in which a panel of QScholars – undergraduate students pursuing LGBTQ-based research – and visiting speakers discussed their research and personal experience with sexuality by telling stories. Transfers magazine drives transportation research into accessible format
A new UCLA magazine that launched Wednesday features work from other universities to make transportation research more accessible to students, policymakers and the public. The UCLA Institute of Transportation Studies released its first issue of Transfers Magazine, which features research from the Pacific Southwest Region University Transportation Center, said Madeline Brozen, associate director of ITS and Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies at UCLA and editor in chief of Transfers Magazine. Judicial board rejects third petition against election board in a week
The undergraduate student government judicial board rejected a petition against the election board Friday, marking the third rejected petition this week. The judicial board denied to review a petition filed by Matthew Richard and Ramneek Hazrah, who claimed the election board did not follow the judicial board’s orders to issue a reasonable sanction for Bruins United candidates Bella Martin and Victoria Solkovits engaging in attempted voter coercion during the Undergraduate Students Association Council election campaign. USAC proposes installment of cameras in Kerckhoff in response to hate crimes
Student leaders are calling for security cameras to be installed at Kerckhoff Hall after several hate crimes occurred during the school year. The Undergraduate Students Association Council first proposed adding security cameras to the third and fourth floors of Kerckhoff during its meeting May 8 because the Academic Affairs commissioner’s door was vandalized with a homophobic slur earlier in May.
