Workshops offered to international students in September orientations

Incoming international students will now have access to orientation workshops to assist them in their transition to UCLA. The Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars and the International Student Leadership Coalition have collaborated to provide three workshop sessions for international students during summer New Student Orientations. UCLA to offer new undergrad degree in computer engineering in the fall

The UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science has built a new undergraduate degree out of electrical engineering and computer science. New bill aims to protect privacy and safety of domestic violence survivors

Gov. Jerry Brown signed a new bill into law Aug. 7 that aims to protect the privacy and safety of domestic violence survivors. Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson authored Senate Bill 331, which allows campus-based domestic violence counselors to keep their communications with survivors of domestic violence confidential. Read more...

New grad student program seeks to study sustainability in urban areas

UCLA is creating a program for graduate students to research how to sustainably use food, water and energy in urban areas. The interdisciplinary program, which UCLA will develop for the next five years with a $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation, will teach graduate students in research, education and communication how to obtain and transport food, water and energy resources for growing urban populations.
