Student shares concern for discrimination against people with disabilities

Jack Payne’s teachers often give him extra time to complete his tests because he has attention deficit disorder, also known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. “Every time I tell peers about the advantages I receive for having ADD, such as extra time (on assignments) or (being allowed to use) a computer during an exam … they tell me it’s unfair,” said Payne, a first-year international development studies student. UCLA Health launches institute for personalized treatment

UCLA Health launched an institute Thursday that will work toward creating personalized treatments for patients. The Precision Health institute will work on genetic and genomic medicine initiatives, according to a letter by UCLA Chancellor Gene Block, vice chancellor for health sciences John Mazziotta and David Geffen School of Medicine dean Kelsey Martin. UCLA students protest against immigration ban, US-Mexico border wall

About 40 UCLA students and community members gathered in front of Kerckhoff Hall Thursday afternoon to protest recent actions by President Donald Trump. UC to terminate $450M in contracts with Wells Fargo

Alum supports website helping Chinese students at UCLA pay tuition

Hundreds of Chinese UCLA students make their tuition payments through a website each quarter instead of directly to the school. Easy Transfer, the first tuition payment service in China, converts tuition payments from Chinese yuan to United States dollars and transfers them directly to the school’s accounting department, said Yuxing Liu, the company’s vice president of business development and a UCLA alumnus. UCLA environmental researchers concerned about future federal funding

UCLA environmental researchers are anxious about the future of federal funding for their research after President Donald Trump temporarily froze grants from a federal agency. The Trump administration lifted the executive order that temporarily suspended all funds from the Environmental Protection Agency on Friday, but environmental scientists still have concerns about the future of their research.
