TGIF committee creates fund to support students doing unpaid sustainability work

An undergraduate student government fund launched a pilot program in mid-January that will fund students focusing on sustainability on campus. The pilot student support fund will give up to $300 in either UCLA Store gift cards or honorarium payments to individual students who are working in unpaid sustainability work at UCLA, said Sachi Cooper, the Undergraduate Students Association Council facilities commissioner and the committee chair for The Green Initiative Fund. New general representative 1 wants to help ease transition back to campus in fall

A newly appointed undergraduate student representative hopes to help students transition back to campus life in the fall. The Undergraduate Students Association Council unanimously appointed Laura Laubach, a third-year political science transfer student, as the new general representative 1 at the Tuesday council meeting. UC Student Association campaigns to double the Pell Grant maximum

The association that represents University of California students is calling on President Joe Biden’s administration to double the Pell Grant to make college more affordable. The UC Student Association has met with federal representatives, nonprofit leaders and mobilized UC students to advocate for its Double the Pell campaign since the association initiated the campaign in August, said Joshua Lewis, the UCSA government relations chair and a student at UC Berkeley.
