Interfaith event aims to build community among students of different religions

An interfaith committee featured students from different religions Tuesday to promote understanding across faiths. Panelists from various religions – including Catholicism, Judaism and Islam – spoke about their experiences with their religion in life and in college, how they have developed their faith and how their beliefs have helped them to find a community on campus. USAC Judicial Board votes to keep recent changes to election calendar

Student government candidates will not be disqualified for late paperwork under a Friday judicial board ruling. Navkaran Gurm, a first-year public affairs and economics student, alleged the Undergraduate Students Association Council Election Board and council itself violated article 13.1.3 of the election code, which states all changes to the election calendar must be proposed by week seven winter quarter. GSA announces four new leaders for 2019-2020 academic year

New graduate student government leaders were announced Wednesday. Six candidates campaigned for the four executive positions in the Graduate Students Association. Two of the new officers were independent candidates and two are from the Moving Forward slate. Read more...

Several uncontested and unrepresented positions in USAC elections this year

GSA vice presidential candidate sanctioned for campaigning through mailing list

The graduate student government election coordinators sanctioned a candidate for using an online mailing list to campaign. The Graduate Students Association election board banned candidate Jean Paul (JP) Santos, a doctoral student in electrical engineering, from campaigning for 48 hours beginning April 11 for violating article 6.8.5 of GSA code, which states “Candidates must not use departmental list serves for campaigning purposes.” Santos is running for vice president of external affairs against Noreen Ahmed, a graduate student at the Luskin School of Public Affairs. USAC announces ballot, 17 candidates running with another’s eligibility pending
