Hispanic, Latinx students represented in new graduate student group

Students from different backgrounds came together to celebrate the launching of a new Hispanic and Latinx graduate student group Thursday night. Announcements Student leaders proposed creating a new neighborhood council in Westwood to advise the Los Angeles City Council on students’ concerns regarding Westwood. Westwood Forward, a coalition comprising UCLA undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, Westwood homeowners and business owners, said their proposed neighborhood council will push for more affordable housing and make Westwood more welcoming for new businesses. Students voice thoughts on state budget proposals at Bruin Day of Action

Students voiced their opposition to a California budget proposal that would increase University of California tuition at an event Wednesday. The Undergraduate Students Association Council’s Office of the External Vice President held the “Bruin Day of Action” to inform students about how state funding allocations could impact college affordability and to convey their concerns to legislators, said EVP Chloe Pan. Academic counselors answer one-on-one student questions at drop-in event

Students were able to have their academic planning questions addressed in minutes by counselors Tuesday. The Undergraduate Students Association Council’s Academic Affairs Commission held its first Counselor Speed Dating event at Rolfe Hall, during which students could speak with counselors from different academic counseling offices on campus including from the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Academic Advancement Program, College Academic Counseling and ASK Peer Counselors. Absence of USAC election board chair leads to debates among council

The undergraduate student government has not appointed an election board chairperson even though its bylaws require it to have done so by now. The Undergraduate Students Association Council bylaws state the council should appoint the election board chair before the first week of fall quarter. Read more...
