UPTE-CWA 9119, AFSCME Local 3299 strike in response to UC system hiring freezes

The University Professional and Technical Employees-Communications Workers of America 9119 – which represents researchers and technical workers – and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299 – which represents service, patient care and skilled craft workers – called for the strike in response to the UC’s systemwide hiring freeze. UCLA researchers express concerns on academic funding cuts, NIH indirect costs cap

UCLA Law students lead protest against professor who opposes affirmative action

Around 100 people rallied in the Shapiro Courtyard on Thursday to protest against a UCLA School of Law professor who opposes affirmative action. The rally, hosted by the Black Law Students Association and several other student organizations, protested Richard Sander, co-founder of the anti-affirmative action group Students Against Racial Discrimination, which sued the UC on Feb.
