Students, faculty urge UCs to safeguard undocumented immigrants

UCLA faculty and students want to make the university a sanctuary campus for minority groups, including undocumented students. Lauren Duquette-Rury, assistant professor of sociology, penned a letter to the University of California Academic Senate that calls for the University to establish legal services for undocumented students and staff, and denounce hate speech towards all groups on campus. Sexual harassment by UC regent faces backlash from Bruin community

Several University of California students and officials condemned a UC regent for sexually harassing a former employee. UC Regent Norman Pattiz, who is also executive chairman of the radio company PodcastOne, made sexual comments about his former employee, Heather McDonald, while she was taping a commercial for memory foam bras. UC Berkeley Greek life council bans parties after sexual assault reports

Union workers stage protest over low wages for UC employees

Union members temporarily disrupted traffic in Westwood on Tuesday as they protested what they called low wages for University of California employees. Teamsters Local 2010, the union representing administrative, clerical and skilled trades workers, held the protest a day after a study revealed that 70 percent of UC clerical workers are food insecure.
