Computer hardware installed by UCOP found to monitor UC campus networks
The University of California Office of the President has installed computer hardware capable of monitoring email transactions among computers across the University of California system. According to a letter by Ethan Ligon, an associate professor of agricultural and resource economics at UC Berkeley, the hardware is designed to monitor and possibly record all network traffic, including email traffic, coming in and out of Berkeley’s computer networks. Q&A: Vice Chancellor Jerry Kang discusses bureaucracy, discrimination
Jerry Kang, UCLA’s first vice chancellor of equity, diversity and inclusion, is in charge of investigating cases of discrimination on campus. UCLA created the position last year in response to the Moreno Report, a 2013 report headed by California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno who alleged UCLA’s procedures for investigating cases of discrimination were inadequate. UCLA Academic Senate, faculty rally to discuss new pension plan
UCLA faculty members expressed their opinions and concerns about the new University of California-wide pension plan at a town hall meeting Thursday. Financial aid program helps fulfill dreams of undocumented students
