Family-owned Westwood business Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers closes after nearly 80 years

Westwood’s Urban Outfitters closes after 22 years following UC Investments acquisition
This post was updated Aug. 23 at 6:08 p.m. Urban Outfitters’ Westwood location shuttered Thursday after over 22 years on Westwood Boulevard. The lifestyle retailer, which sold clothing, dorm decorations and music products at 1028 and 1038 Westwood Blvd., was among more than a dozen Westwood Village properties that UC Investments – the office of the UC Regents’ chief investment officer – bought in July for nearly $50 million, according to the Commercial Observer. Reopening of historic Westwood theater excites movie lovers, cultivates community
After shuttering in 2024, the Westwood Village Theater – now rebranded as the Directors Village – brought hundreds of people to Westwood to see “The Odyssey.” The theater was purchased in February 2024 by a collective of filmmakers including Christopher Nolan, director of “The Odyssey,” an adaptation of the epic poem written by ancient Greek poet Homer.
