University police are investigating a Sunday morning burglary that occurred at a fraternity house on Gayley Avenue. A UCLA-owned apartment complex will be demolished and rebuilt over two years to almost triple the building’s current occupancy. The Margan Apartments, a seven-story, 39-unit apartment building on Levering Avenue will be rebuilt from July 2017 to 2019 to have 42 units and up to 10 stories, said Peter Angelis, assistant vice chancellor of Housing and Hospitality Services. University police are advising students to be aware of families that have scammed thousands of dollars from students in Westwood. Several families aim to persuade students to give them money by claiming they need money for hospital visits or medicine, said UCPD detective Brian Washburn. Read more...
The Westwood Village Improvement Association is a nonprofit organization that supplies Westwood Village with maintenance and outreach services the city cannot provide.
