UCLA’s annual Westwood Block Party kickstarts school year, highlights community

UCLA hosted the annual Westwood Village Block Party with games, local food vendors and merchandise on Sept. 22. The block party included activities such as a ferris wheel and a bounce house, while providing students with discounted food and merchandise from both UCLA and surrounding Westwood businesses. Annual UCLA Volunteer Day brings thousands together to serve, build community

UCLA students report drug-related aggravated assault on Gayley Avenue

UCPD is searching for suspects in a drug-related off campus aggravated assault. Two victims reported separate incidents of being drugged with an unknown substance at parties on Gayley Avenue – where many UCLA fraternities are housed – last week, according to a crime alert sent by UCPD on Monday afternoon.  The first victim attended three parties along Gayley Avenue on Thursday, where they experienced symptoms which they did not attribute to alcohol, according to the alert. A Roebling fire broke out early Saturday morning. A fire began on Roebling Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. A couch, a chair and a toilet were among the objects in the fire. Read more...

A look into businesses that have arrived and departed Westwood Village this summer

Summer brought significant change to Westwood, as several businesses were welcomed to the community, while others said their temporary and permanent farewells. While many undergraduate students were away, Westwood saw the openings of Danny Boy’s Pizza, a New York-style pizza restaurant, as well as Le Phant Milk Tea Co., a specialty milk tea shop.
