UCLA students and Westwood community members are one step closer to voting on the creation of a new neighborhood council. Village advocacy organization votes to support Westwood Forward
The Westwood Village Improvement Association voted to support Westwood Forward at a meeting Thursday. Landfair, Strathmore intersection closed off due to water main leak
The intersection of Landfair Avenue and Strathmore Drive has been blocked off following a water main leak in the area. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power received a report of a water main leak at noon, said LADWP spokesperson Sylvia Beltran. Read more...

Westwood group sues, files petition against proposed UCLA housing project
A Westwood group is suing the University of California and UCLA over a proposed student-housing project in Westwood Village. The Westwood History and Architecture Association and Steve Sann, chair of the Westwood Community Council, filed a petition Wednesday ordering UCLA to halt a building project at the UCLA Extension site building on Le Conte Avenue. Los Angeles officials postpone meeting with Westwood Forward
City officials have rescheduled a meeting with student leaders that would determine whether they can hold an election for a new neighborhood council for Westwood. Westwood Forward, a coalition of students and community members proposing a new neighborhood council, is now scheduled to meet with the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment on March 13.
