Clea Wurster: Lowering STI rates responsibility of government, not community members
America has seen lots of changes in the past year. The rate of sexually transmitted infections nearly doubling wasn’t one we were expecting. STI rates have been quite low in previous years because of the introduction of antibiotics, regular screenings and even education – rates fell 75 percent from 1975 to 1997. Read more...

Submission: UCLA’s overhaul of financial actuarial mathematics program damages its purpose
I want to thank the Daily Bruin Editorial Board for its editorial criticizing UCLA for its treatment of lecturers in the financial actuarial mathematics program. The university has announced it will overhaul the FAM program and not rehire lecturers in the program, and instead replace them with ladder faculty. Read more...
