Submission: Prop. 47 would move state out of dark age

The funds appropriated by Proposition 63 to develop California’s mental health system will end this fiscal year. Our state is in desperate need of a measure that can fill the void caused by the end of this funding and facilitate a shift in California’s priorities away from incarceration toward rehabilitation and education. Submission: Conversation around mental health must change

While tabling at the Enormous Activities Fair for “All of Us: A Campaign to Rethink Mental Health,” I asked several people what the first thing that came to their mind was when I said “mental health.” Unfortunately, most answers to that question included “disorder,” “disability,” “disease,” “insanity,” “craziness,” “suicide” and “depression.” Most of these responses gave evidence to the fact that mental health is very stigmatized.
