People on the internet are increasingly embarking on stranger journeys – and the rise of the true-crime genre makes this all the more evident. According to data collected from Parrot Analytics for the Ringer, a media-tracking company, true crime was both one of the biggest and fastest-growing documentary subgenres between May 2019 and April 2021.
