UCLA cross country adds men’s, women’s coaches, welcomes new director

​UCLA cross country recently went through some major changes, many of which come in the form of a newly minted coaching staff. Former coach Forest Braden was in charge of all 38 runners last year when he headed the cross country team, but in 2017 the team will be split between men and women with assistant coaches Devin Elizondo and Jennifer DeRego in charge of each team, respectively. Men’s, women’s cross country finish 15th, 28th at NCAA championship

The UCLA cross country team ran its final miles of the season under frigid conditions in Terre Haute, Indiana, at the NCAA championship Saturday. With temperatures just hovering over the freezing mark, the men’s team finished 15th, coming behind fellow Pac-12 teams Stanford, Colorado, Oregon and Washington State. Read more...

UCLA cross country teams race for first NCAA championship titles

Both the UCLA men’s and women’s cross country teams are headed to the national championships for just the second time since 1985. The race will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course for the eighth time in the past 10 years Saturday morning, in what’s projected to be 46-degree weather – a stark difference from the balmy 70s of the regional championships. UCLA cross country teams enter NCAA regionals with optimism

Coming off the Pac-12 championships, coach Forest Braden had a lot to be hopeful for in the to-come NCAA rounds. Cross country teams show improvement from 2015 in Pac-12 championships

The temperature reached over 90 degrees after the UCLA cross-country team hit the trails early Friday morning.
