All-around defense fuels UCLA men’s basketball to 1st Big Ten win over Washington

This post was updated Dec. 4 at 10:40 p.m. A visit from the NFL seemed to have inspired the Bruins on Tuesday night.  With former-Husky-turned-Bruin Laiatu Latu – the 2023 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year – in attendance, the Bruins’ defense took care of business against the Huskies.  In the programs’ 153rd meeting – and first as Big Ten opponents – UCLA men’s basketball (7-1, 1-0 Big Ten) defeated Washington (6-2, 0-1) by a score of 69-58 at Pauley Pavilion in both squads’ conference opener. Cal State Fullerton sinks in titanic fashion 80-47 to UCLA men’s basketball

This post was updated Nov. 24 at 8:20 p.m. Mick Cronin’s first year as a Bruin head coach was nothing short of a rollercoaster.  A 19-12 finish to the season featured a 77-74 loss to the Titans – a defeat that impelled Cronin to issue an apology for the team’s lackluster defensive performance.  “I apologize to our fans for our defensive effort,” Cronin said after the 2019 game. UCLA men’s basketball proves versatility in 84-70 victory against Idaho State

The departure of Bruin greats – namely Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Jaylen Clark – left a gaping void for a conspicuous offensive standout.  Several Bruins made their case to plug that hole Wednesday night.  Amid minutes from 11 different players and double-digit contributions from three different Bruins, UCLA men’s basketball (4-1) cruised to a 84-70 victory over Idaho State (2-4) on Wednesday.
