For some record-holding UCLA athletes, this competition was the last time they would proudly don their wearied sneakers as Bruins, while for others it was but a launchpad to the NCAA Championships and with it, UCLA history. Senior sprinter Ashlea McLaughlin punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career as an individual competitor, placing ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.43 seconds.

The UCLA club figure skating team became an official club in the fall. Team members practice at the Culver Ice Arena and the Toyota Sports Center. The team, which consists of about 12 members, will begin competing against other schools next year.
