After their best regular season since 1998-1999, the Bruins will begin play in the Pac-10 Tournament Friday at the Galen Center. Under the guidance of second-year coach Nikki Caldwell, who won Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors, the Bruins (22-7, 15-3) will enter the Pac-10 Tournament as the No. 2 seed, the best ever for UCLA in the history of the tournament. The No. 23 Bruins are a relative shoo-in for the NCAA Tournament having won eight straight games and 12 of their last 13. The honors don’t end there; freshman forward Markel Walker, second on the Bruins in points, with 10.8 per game, and rebounds, 7.6 per game, was voted to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team. UCLA will face the winner of tonight’s Washington-Oregon State game Friday at 7:15 p.m.
