Gators take all, win back-to-back titles

ATLANTA “”mdash; Even college basketball’s most intimidating post presence in 20 years, Greg Oden, couldn’t stop Florida from its goal on Monday night. The Gators’ four juniors, Corey Brewer, Joakim Noah, Al Horford and Taurean Green, passed up the riches of the NBA to become the first team in over a decade to win consecutive national titles, and their goal was accomplished on Monday as they defeated the Buckeyes 84-75 in the national championship at the Georgia Dome. Baseball’s season turning around

Last week, the Bruin baseball team learned how quickly its fortunes and its season can turn around. Going into a game against the Pacific Tigers on March 25, the Bruins were struggling, riding a six-game losing streak and having lost 10 of their last 12 games. Read more...


Former equipment manager dies at 63

Former UCLA head equipment manager Richard Nichols died Monday at the age of 63 after a long illness. Nichols was a member of a very exclusive club, being only the third person to hold the position in the school’s history before he retired after the 2000 Sun Bowl. Read more...


Softball off to slow start in Pac-10

It was not the best of starts. Last weekend, the UCLA softball team opened Pac-10 play, hoping to continue dominating the conference. Instead, the No. 11 Bruins (25-9, 1-2 Pac-10) continued to struggle, committing nine errors while only scoring four runs. Read more...
