Football: Hurdler jumps at chance to join football team

It was an itch he just had to scratch, so UCLA’s Matt Willis scratched it all the way from Drake Stadium to Spaulding Field. Previously a hurdler on the UCLA men’s track and field team, Willis has traded his spikes for a pair of cleats, walking on to the Bruin football team as a receiver. Read more...


Baseball: Baseball sees early success washed away

The storms of a few weeks ago appear to have washed away much of the UCLA baseball team’s success. After starting a surprising 6-3, the Bruins encountered almost two straight weeks of showers, forcing them to miss practice time and only play two out of four scheduled games. Read more...



M. basketball: Chasing the NCAA Tournament

One by one, they recited the company line, a stale, humdrum, one-at-a-time mantra that the Bruins have adopted since the calendar turned to March. First, UCLA coach Ben Howland stepped up to the podium on Saturday night after the Bruins defeated Oregon, 73-61, and reiterated that the team must keep winning to assure an NCAA Tournament berth.
