‘Technical, not terminal’: UCLA football prepares to face UNLV, strengthen defense

There were not a lot of positives to take away from the season opener. The defense could not stop anything, allowing six touchdowns and nearly 500 yards of total offense; redshirt sophomore quarterback Nico Iamaleava threw for just 136 yards in his anticipated UCLA debut; and the Rose Bowl – 682 miles from Salt Lake City – teemed with throngs of Utah red, almost matching the size of the Bruin faithful. Women’s volleyball wins against Long Beach State, suffers 4-set loss to Pepperdine

The Bruins didn’t just take the court in their season opener. They unveiled a brand new identity with six players making their debut. No. 19 UCLA women’s volleyball (1-1) opened the year with mixed results after a five-set thriller win against Long Beach State (1-2) on Monday in Walter Pyramid, followed by a four set loss to Pepperdine (3-1) in Firestone Fieldhouse on Tuesday. UCLA men’s soccer ties Kentucky 0-0, still searches for a win this season

The Bruins are still winless. They have scored just one goal and allowed four through two losses and two draws. While they still have yet to claim that elusive win, the Bruins trekked across the country and kept the ball out of their own net for the first time this season. Read more...
