Women’s basketball ends NCAA Tournament run with loss to No. 1 UConn

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Women’s college basketball is a different world in Connecticut. UCLA women’s basketball routs Texas A&M 75-43, heads to Sweet 16

Kari Korver looked excited after hitting her second three of the game. Texas A&M (22-12, 9-7 SEC) called a timeout and the redshirt senior guard pumped her fist and shouted as she headed into the UCLA (25-8, 13-5 Pac-12) huddle up at 9-2 less than two minutes into the game. Read more...

Women’s basketball defeats Boise State 83-56, advances to round of 32

UCLA women’s basketball advanced to the round of 32 on Saturday night, following a historic performance by junior guard Jordin Canada. Canada tied a school record with 16 assists and scored 15 points to go along with five rebounds. Read more...

Women’s basketball keeps focus on present to prep for Boise matchup

Cori Close didn’t want to talk about Uconn. As the 4-seed UCLA women’s basketball team (23-8, 13-5 Pac-12) plays 13-seed Boise State (25-7, 12-6 Mountain West) on Saturday, the coach insisted on the group’s need to focus on the opponent in front of them rather than the potential Sweet 16 match-up that may happen in just over a week. NCAA Tournament poses series of challenges for UCLA women’s basketball

Three years ago: a first-round Pac-12 Tournament exit. Two years ago: a Women’s National Invitation Tournament championship. Last year: a Sweet 16 loss to Texas. This year, if the trend were to continue, one would guess that UCLA women’s basketball would surpass the Sweet 16. Read more...
