Former UCLA women’s tennis standout Abigail Spears captured the first grand slam title of her career Saturday in mixed doubles. The former Bruin had reached two previous grand slam mixed doubles finals with Mexico’s Santiago Gonzalez at the US Open in 2013 and 2014, but fell short both times. Read more...

Jennifer Brady had only two career wins on the Women’s Tennis Association’s main tour heading into the Australian Open. The former Bruin, ranked No. 116 in singles, more than doubled that win total after one week at the year’s first Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne. Read more...
