UCLA students host first Pride Admit Weekend

 

On April 18-19, admitted UCLA students from all over the world traveled to UCLA for Bruin Day. During the first ever Pride Admit Weekend, current UCLA students hosted an event for queer and gender non-conforming admitted students to give them a welcoming inside look at LGBT life at UCLA. Watch as these proud new Bruins embrace their identities and reveal what they hope to find in their new community.

 


pLAces: Whimsic Alley

Dressed In full wizard garb and TARDIS corsets, guests at the Doctor Who Craft Fair at Whimsic Alley find handmade items from their favorite fandoms, like “Harry Potter,” “Game of Thrones,” “Doctor Who” and even “Downton Abbey.” You can never be too excited here, as employees Jamie Chandler and Kiana Beuler share their stories about finding a place at Whimsic Alley where they can truly be themselves every day with a circle of friends and guests who love the same things they love. Student-run garden sprouts food on campus

Located in Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, the DIG UCLA garden coalition is a student-run organization designed to educate and bring together the greater UCLA community through the creation of an organic garden. More »

Musicians bond through playing son jarocho

Jueves Jarocho is a collection of musicians from a variety of backgrounds who gather to create music together. The group plays son jarocho music, a form of traditional Mexican music, and accompanies a percussive dance class here on campus. More »

The UCLA figure skating club jumps, spins and glides on the ice. The team overcomes the challenges of not having its own coach and ice skating rink in order to attend the national championships. More »

Freshman volleyball player Hagen Smith surfs at a local beach to clear his mind, escape pressure and enjoy his time off from practice. Smith grew up attending his father’s beach volleyball camp each summer, where Smith first discovered his love for the beach and its waves. More »
