Dear incoming Bruins, congratulations on beginning the next chapter of your lives. Each year, the Daily Bruin – UCLA’s independent, student-run newspaper – mails its Orientation Issue magazine to incoming first-year and transfer students to help acquaint them with campus and Westwood. With this magazine, we hope to introduce you to some of the thousands of people you will see on Bruin Walk, some of the happenings inside our campus’s over 170 buildings and some of the stories that are a part of Westwood’s 106 years of history.

Spoon University at UCLA will give you a taste (and review) of Westwood eats
Spoon University at UCLA is cooking up tasty reviews, delicious recipes and a sense of community for Bruins. As a national online food publication, Spoon University allows students to publish articles about recipes, restaurant reviews and other food-related content, said Madelyn Zirlin, former co-president of the UCLA chapter. Student-run production company promotes inclusivity, diversity in storytelling
