Wanted to share some excerpts of the high praise Denise Curry had for this year’s Bruins. Pretty remarkable to be spoken of so highly by one of the best to ever do it.
“You don’t get to a Final Four by accident. This year’s team has a lot of talent, a lot of depth, a lot of versatility, and they’ve got good size too, so they can play in a variety of different ways and be very successful.”
“Lauren’s exceptional, don’t get me wrong. She’s the best two-way player in collegiate basketball right now. But we have so many other talented players that can do so many different things, and that’s what makes us so good, is our selflessness, and then our versatility and the depth we have, and then just how players, how they meld and play so well together.”
She then gave her two cents on what will be key tonight.
“We need to not worry so much about them, but just play our game. Which is, get the ball inside when Lauren’s there, and then be ready to go on kick outs and things like that. And if it’s not there, don’t hesitate to take it to the basket, to take the shots that present themselves,” Curry said.
“We need to defend like we’re capable of, and we need to rebound like most of Cori Close’s teams have been exceptional defenders and rebounders, and I think this team is no different. I think if we defend like we’re capable of and we rebound like we’re capable of, I think the offense will take care of itself.”
