Chua, who has worked in the commission for two years, said he hopes to create a supportive environment that empowers students to serve their community. Chua added that each community is diverse and has unique needs, so the best representatives come from within.

As part of his plan to ensure projects are sustainable and impactful, Chua said he hopes to continue a preexisting internal program at CSC that assesses project performance and also continue addressing current challenges and creating concrete plans for achieving more effective outcomes.

He also said he wants to empower people to make UCLA better.

Chua also outlined plans to encourage volunteering by providing skills-based opportunities to better fit students’ desires for practical experiences.

“Through CSC, I hope to create a supportive environment to empower these individuals to step up, create change and to make UCLA a better place for all UCLA students,” Chua said.

Students can vote in the election on MyUCLA from 8 a.m. May 9 until noon May 16.
