Gallery: Exploring the colorful Dominican Republic for 24 hours

(Elle Smith/Daily Bruin)

Drivers honk their horns as motorcycles weave between cars on crowded streets. Located in the eastern province of La Altagracia in the Dominican Republic and home to about 400,000 people, the town of Higüey and the surrounding areas are recognized for agricultural production and the tourism industry. Over spring break, the Daily Bruin’s Elle Smith set out to explore the culture and local towns of the Dominican Republic.
