UCLA researchers analyze mammal DNA for modifications associated with aging, lifespan

UCLA researchers analyzed a certain type of DNA marker across hundreds of mammal species and found associations with traits such as lifespan, weight and age. The study, published in August, examined patterns of DNA methylation – a genomic modification that suppresses gene expression without changing the actual DNA sequence – in 348 mammalian species, said Jason Ernst, one of the study’s authors. Mayor Karen Bass discusses homelessness, public safety at telephone town hall

Faculty reacts to former President Donald Trump’s federal indictments

Some political experts predict former President Donald Trump will maintain strong Republican support in the 2024 presidential election, despite several federal indictments and other challenges. After announcing his reelection campaign in November, Trump was indicted four times between March and August for his alleged participation in a conspiracy to defraud the United States in the 2020 presidential election, possession of classified documents, and business fraud in Florida, Georgia and New York.
