Bill to give free transit to students vetoed by Gov. Gavin Newsom

Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill in September that would have allowed many California students to ride public transit for free. The proposed Assembly Bill 1919 would have allocated funds for transit agencies to provide students attending K-12 schools, California community colleges, California State Universities or University of California campuses with free transit passes. President Joe Biden delivers speech on infrastructure improvements in Westwood

This post was updated Nov. 15 at 3:47 p.m. President Joe Biden gave a speech Thursday at the developing Westwood Veterans Affairs Hospital station – part of the Purple (D Line) Extension Transit Project – promoting his administration’s efforts to expand infrastructure.  The Metro expansion project, which will add seven new stops, including UCLA, to the Purple Line, began in 2019 with local and federal funding, according to the Los Angeles Metro. UCPD searches for suspect reportedly involved in on-campus sexual battery

UCPD is searching for a suspect reportedly involved in an on-campus sexual battery Monday morning. The incident took place at the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus stop at the 400 block of Westwood Plaza around 10:40 a.m., according to a UCPD crime alert sent Wednesday morning. Read more...

UCLA announces OneBill Initiative that consolidates fees to one account

UCLA administrators announced in a campuswide email Monday that a new initiative will allow students to pay their tuition, housing, parking and transit fees on one BruinBill account. Read more...
