Upcoming Metro projects set to improve UCLA commute times, curb Westwood traffic

Two upcoming Westwood public transit projects have the potential to reduce traffic at UCLA. The D Line Subway Extension Project will extend the subway line nine miles along Wilshire Boulevard and will include a Westwood/UCLA station, which is set to open in 2027. Read more...

UPTE-CWA 9119, AFSCME Local 3299 negotiations with UC remains ongoing

Picket lines dotted with workers in union T-shirts hoisting signs and chanting into megaphones have become a familiar sight across UC campuses this year. Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299 – which represents over 37,000 service, patient care and skilled craft workers – and the University Professional and Technical Employees-Communications Workers of America 9119 – which represents over 18,000 researchers and technical workers – struck four times throughout the 2024-2025 academic year. Student uncovers UCLA budget deficit, USAC resolution calls for transparency

Nicholas Reese was trying to conduct research for a student meal swipe donation initiative when he discovered multiple UCLA financial deficits that have gone unpublicized. Reese, a third-year political science student, said he learned through his research and an administrator that UCLA’s dining budget was inflated and the administration was going to rely on unused student swipes to fund that deficit.
