Suspended wideouts earn playing time by squaring off against scout teams

The UCLA football team names two scout team players of the week at the conclusion of the week's practices. Scholarship players sophomore defensive tackle Cassius Marsh and redshirt sophomore Ricky Marvray ran away with the honors as they were serving their respective Pac-12 mandated suspensions by dominating the scout teams, which are largely comprised of walk-ons. Double Trouble

Anderson and Morton comprise part of a highly-touted UCLA freshman recruiting class which was ranked third overall in the country according to TennisRecruiting.net. The two freshmen were vaguely familiar with one another from their days on the junior tennis circuit. The two freshmen went out and decisively won the 64-team doubles draw of the 2011 USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championships in San Diego. Read more...

Freshmen Skylar Morton and Robin Anderson won the Southwest Regional in San Diego and received an automatic bid to travel to New York for the Natonal Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Morton and Anderson were able to develop chemistry together despite having just met to capture first place. They, among others, comprise the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation for 2011.




Adam Wright earns gold at Pan American Games while balancing work as UCLA water polo coach

UCLA men’s water polo coach Adam Wright is no stranger to the Olympic spotlight, as he went with the national team to Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008. Last week, Wright and the national team won gold at the Pan American Games, securing the U.S. a spot at the 2012 Olympics.


UCLA students top the Pac-12 in Best of the West Fitness Challenge

Although UCLA Recreation members gained more than just bragging rights from their victory in the Pac-12 Best of the West Fitness Challenge last week ($5,000 for recreation programs, to be exact), many students found motivation from a classic source: the desire to beat USC. Read more...
