Defying stay-at-home orders, scores of protesters drove to Los Angeles City Hall on Wednesday to demand the city reopen nonessential businesses amid the coronavirus pandemic. The University of California will not lay off career employees in response to the COVID-19 outbreak through June 30, university officials announced Thursday.
